Full Description:
Our client is looking for an individual who is experienced in developing online campaigns to establish their brand; this will involve developing a marketing policy.
• Specific tasks you would be expected to be able to undertake:
1. Liaising and building relationships with a range of stakeholders, e.g. customers, suppliers and colleagues.
2. Developing advertising opportunities, which could involve placing adverts in national, regional and specialist publications or on the radio.
3. Maintaining and building contacts with the media;
4. Writing and distributing press releases;
5. Preparing photo / film shoots;
6. Managing the production of marketing materials online but also including leaflets, posters and flyers - this can involve writing and proofreading copy and liaising with designers and printers;
7. Arranging for the effective distribution of marketing materials;
8. Maintaining and updating mailing (email) databases;
9. Organising and attending events and exhibitions;
10. Securing sponsorship to assist with the publicity and funding of marketing projects;
11. Carrying out market research and customer surveys to assess demand, brand positioning and awareness;
12. Evaluating marketing campaigns;
13. Monitoring competitor activity;
14. Analysing pricing positions of our advertising, services and products;
15. Contributing to and developing long-term marketing plans and strategies;
16. Assisting in the delivery of approved strategies;
17. Managing budgets;
Personality: A free thinker, self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business profit. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with senior big company executives. Reliable, tolerant, and determined. Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view. Well presented and businesslike. Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel up to a few days a month within the UK. Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability. Able to get on with others and be a team leader-player.
Personal Situation: Must be mature and able to spend as many nights away per month as the role requires. Able to commute reliably to office base. Able to work extended hours on occasions when required. Must have clean or near clean driving licence.
Specific Job Skills: Able to communicate and motivate via written media and work as our front to the media. Understands the principles of marketing and advertising cost-effectiveness, including market sector targeting, product offer development, features-benefits-solutions selling, cost per response, cost per conversion, etc. Appreciates need for consistency within company's branding and marketing mix, especially PR and the Internet. Experience of managing marketing budgets.
Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, Powerpoint and ideally Access or similar database to basic level (we will be developing our own CRM system), Internet and email.
Literacy and Numeracy: Able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations, depreciation, capital and revenue expenditure, cash-flow, overheads, etc. Must be a very competent writer of business letters, quotations and proposals.
Management Ability: Though internal staff management is not initially part of the job, responsibility and opportunity will grow with the development of the business, for example the prospect of recruiting and managing personnel from PR, Events, Distribution, agency and support staff. Some people-management skills, experience and natural ability will therefore be required.
